It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of outrage that I let you know that the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles voted to deny clemency to Troy Davis. The State of Georgia is now on course to execute Troy tonight, Wednesday 21 September, at 7pm EST - that's midnight UK time.
With so many grave doubts surrounding Troy's conviction, the Board's decision to deny him clemency is astounding - and we're not prepared to accept it. Take our updated action: call on the Parole Board to reconsider
Since we got the news of their decision yesterday, you have already sent a further 45,000 emails to the Georgia Parole Board. In response to this outpouring of defiance, the Board took the outrageous step of blocking emails coming via the Amnesty website.
We're doing our best to get round the block, but to ensure your message gets through we need you to take a little extra time to also send your appeal from your personal email account. Find out how and take action now
Troy Davis and his family have counted on us for many years now and we will not let them down. Please take action - human rights and a human life are on the line. With just hours to go and with the Board having the power to stop Troy's execution up until the last moment, it is absolutely imperative that you send an email and ask everyone you know to do the same
Light a candle for Troy
If the worst happens - and we'll fight until the very last to ensure it does not - we will hold a candlelit vigil outside the US embassy in London this evening between 10pm and midnight. Find out more about the event
