Dale Farm: Caravans can be removed at illegal traveller site
A judge has ruled that Basildon Council can remove caravans from 49 out of 54 plots at an illegal travellers' site at Dale Farm, Essex.
The council was also told it could remove the majority of concrete pitches on the site, the judge at the High Court said.
The ruling states though that walls, fences and gates should remain on site.
However, an injunction preventing any removal from the site is expected to remain in force until at least Tuesday.
The injunction was put in place when the travellers brought their own legal case against the council in a bid to avoid eviction.
Residents have made three separate applications for judicial review to stop the clearance of their homes.
The council has been ordered to pay a third of their legal costs in relation to the case the judge has ruled on.
The authority has been attempting for a decade to remove travellers from the Dale Farm site, which is on green belt land and is thought to currently house about 400 people on the pitches.
My personal view of the world via the articles i read and post, because I believe in that path, mixed with the views of others who sometimes clash with my point of view... very badly at times! Spot which ones they are. DYK that if you had projectbrainsaver type kit you would already know that, and so much more!
